Automated Abrasive Cutting Machine

This is a semi-automated machine for slotting steel thread dies with an abrasive cutoff wheel. The machine accommodates various sized dies using interchangeable holding fixtures mounted to a rotary index table.

A fully guarded, custom designed abrasive cutoff wheel assembly is moved using an electric actuator to reach the appropriate depth of cut depending on the size of the thread die.

The dies are removed from the holding fixtures using an electric linear actuator pick & place unit that self-centers and requires no changeover for different sized dies.
